Dai Young - Coaching the Coach!
Cardiff Blues rugby coach, Dai Young, has been on the receiving end of some rigorous coaching himself recently! Dai, a former Wales captain and British Lion player, has been taking part in an advanced IT training programme which will equip him with the skills necessary to do his job effectively, both on and off the pitch.
The eight week programme, specifically tailored to meet Dai's needs,
was developed by Wales' premier learning and development organisation, Acom Business UK Limited
" The day-to-day demands of being a coach have changed greatly over the last
couple of years. The game of rugby is now moving so fast that IT skills are
increasingly becoming a major part of everything we do." said Dai.
"As well as using computer packages for things like budgetary needs and preparing team sheets, we also use them for putting game plans into place." he added. "Acom has played an integral part in developing a one-to-one course, specifically for me, which means that I can use my time much more effectively."
And it's not just Dai who has benefited from Acom's expertise. The organisation has already put members of the Welsh rugby squad along with support staff through their paces with a flexible, customised programme, designed to equip them fully in terms of IT skills that they can use during their sporting career and in the future.
Acom's Director of IT, Matthew Haynes, said: "It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with Dai Young. It is demonstrative of the working environments of today that require us all to take part in life-long learning. IT skills become a fundamental part of everyone's life, irrespective of what career they decide to pursue."
Acom's reputation has been built on delivering high quality, flexible learning
solutions to meet the needs of businesses and organisations throughout Wales
and England. Managing Director, Paul Haynes, said: "We realise that every
business is different and our strategy is not to offer a company a training
course, but a solution to their particular business need."
